The "Carmel Community Newsletter" relies on writers and bloggers from the Carmel area to report on people, events, and news that is local to you. Each month, stories are written and shared online through the atCarmel.com website. These stories are then selected by the "Carmel Community Newsletter" publisher to be featured each month in the print newsletter which is distributed to 20,000 Carmel residents.
How can I write for atCarmel.com?
Post your local news stories and photos to atCarmel.net, and if we publish you in the "Carmel Community Newsletter," you receive up to $50 in cash or local restaurant gift certificates! Here is how it works:
1. You must have a registered account with atCarmel.net and the stories and photos must be posted to your account
2. You must post only stories and photos which you have created yourself or you own the right to post
3. Stories must be at least 200 words in length and atCarmel.com reserves the right to edit your story for space or content
4. Photos must have an accompanying caption identifying the people or places within the photo
A published story receives $25, a published photo receives $25. If you publish a story with a photo and both are used, you receive $50! Plus, you get the byline and photo credit with your published works. Go ahead and cover your kids' school events, festivals, sporting events, or homeowners' association meetings. Post your sunset photos, arts functions, or club pictures. We're looking for photos and stories about our neighbors, particularly those who are giving back and making Carmel the best place to live.
We also recommend that you join the "Carmel Writers" group on atCarmel.net to be notified of story assignments, ideas, and special features we need covered.
Disclaimer: There is no age limit, no limit to how many blog posts, photos or stories you submit. However, we will not pay for press releases, event notices (i.e. garage sales, charity events, festivals), nor articles or photos that have been published elsewhere. Cash and or gift certificate payments are made within 30 days of the publication date and are at the sole discretion of atCarmel.com.
